Mike Crawat

Here I am! One year after I made the biggest decision of my life, turning fulltime self employed.

I was scared for 2 years straight.. Scared to fail, scared to not have work, scared to not being able to earn enough to just live life, pay bills. But I just went all in, turning that hobby, what I love, my passion, into a fulltime 24/7 ‘job’. it’s been a hustle to reach the point where I am today, such a long road with ups and downs. But yet every time I felt less, every time I felt like ‘this is not gonna workout’, I thought about the day and reason why I started the journey. I started all of this because I just love taking photos, capturing moments, creating content and snapping stuff that make people smile. I get so questions about how I started, how to find work, people that don’t know where to start or giving up. I was there where you are now, but I never gave up. Look back at the day why you’ve started this, why you picked up that camera to create your own magic & don’t give up. You need to fail to succeed, you need those rough times to remember why you’ve started. If I listened to the people that didn’t believe in me I would have given up all of this. So, I believe in all of you, I believe that you can, that you can make something worth of the energy you put into this. It’s a 24/7 hustle, it’s hard work, but once you’re in the flow there’s no stopping. Just know you all are beautiful, and your work is unique in every way. Just do you, you do you and never listen to negative vibes, never let people that want to bring you down affect you. You’re better! Use those negative vibes as fuel to grow, to create more! Remember one thing, never give up! Love y’all!

Photobug Community

Photobug Community is a learning platform, for wedding photographers, that fosters community, creativity, and growth.

Powered by the team at Junebug Weddings, Photobug Community started out as a small sub-blog of the Junebug site, originally called The Photobug Blog. Over the years, Photobug garnered its own loyal readership of wedding photographers coming to the blog for inspiration, news, and advice. In 2017, after launching a successful Facebook group and Instagram account, our team at Junebug decided to finally create a separate and official space for Photobug readers. Photobug Community is now home to over 150,000 wedding photographers and counting.

Our mission at Photobug Community is to empower wedding photographers to take a sustainable, creative, and compassionate approach to their businesses through education and community.

If you’re interested in becoming a part of our community, be sure to join our Facebook group, where you can share your work, get inspired by others, and connect with peers all around the globe. If you’re looking to learn something new, head on over to our shop or take a gander at some helpful blog posts.

Fun fact! You can thank some actual bug lovers for the addition of “community” to the website name. You’d be surprised at how many bug photographer Facebook groups there are named Photobug, as well as how many pictures of beetles and caterpillars we get tagged in on Instagram!

Anni Graham

I’M A MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN BEND, OR, SHOOTING INTIMATE WEDDINGS AND ADVENTURE ELOPEMENTS WORLDWIDE.

Having grown up in India and filling my passport with countless stamps over the years, I’m an experienced traveller, adventurer, and educator. Additionally, I educate other photographers through my workshops, mentor sessions, presets, and more. When I’m not with my couples climbing up a mountain, discovering waterfalls, working on my next preset pack, or watching the last ray of light dip below the horizon, I’m likely to be enjoying a low-key evening at home with my husband Rich or sharing stories with friends over a glass of wine.

Joel Famularo

About

Joel works as a freelance Cinematographer/Director who strives to bring authenticity and quality to his work above all else. He is a proud member of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) and owns his own ARRI Amira.

First picking up a camera in high school, Joel immediately knew that film making was his calling.
“I’d never done something that felt so natural”, says Joel, “and people around me seemed to agree. That was HUGE for me as a 14 year old – to love something so much and to have others confirm they were seeing something special – it was the first time I ever felt like I knew what I wanted to do when I grew up.”

Growing up in an artistic family, who travelled Australia in a bus playing music as a family band, Joel was always going to struggle to fit into the 9-5 tradition of ‘normal’ adulthood. To Joel, ‘normal’ was living day to day and week to week, with his unconventional childhood breeding in him a tolerance for risk and stress that most people find overwhelming.

”I’m at my best when the chips are down and things are falling apart – this is not to say I court chaos – far from it. As someone who was raised in what some may refer to as a ‘chaotic environment’, I appreciate a well devised plan and the hierarchy of a high functioning team more than most, but as anyone in the film industry knows, things never go according to plan, and if and when they don’t – I’ve found that I’m simply able to function better under pressure than most’.

Joel has almost as much history in front of the camera as he does behind it – having been a professional actor through his early to late twenties. He believes this only helps him stand out in his ability to contribute to the projects he works on.
”The culture on set is as important as the cameras and lights. If your actors, talent and crew are not able to perform at their best, then it’s all for nothing. I understand this and strive to engender a positive, fun and inclusive energy on set whilst still balancing that with an ambition to stay on schedule and really achieve something special and worthwhile with the time we have. The other thing is, as an actor I was trained so well in breaking down and analysing scripts that when I’m creating the visual language for a project, this training only helps me make bold and intuitive choices that will serve and amplify the vision of the director and connect to the heart of the story.”

Joel currently works out of Melbourne Australia but is available to work worldwide. He works on Music Videos, Commercials, Fashion, Documentary, Corporate and Narrative and would love to hear from you if you’d like to collaborate on a project you have coming up!

illume luts

illume luts

A collection of video presets created with the fine art filmmaker in mind.

With a deep appreciation for the art & style achieved with medium format film, Kelley and Paul created Illume LUTs to enable filmmakers to emulate a similar look to every one of their projects. After years of studying of a variety of film stocks, they crafted this collection of presets to give creators a chance to bring those film-like tones to video.

Our LUTs offer a rich palette of colors, cool greens, soft skin tones & the perfect balance of highlights & shadows. We strongly believe that adding these to your color grading tools will not only serve your clients well, but also help you stand out amidst other filmmakers.
