Sara and I are super excited to release our first Lightroom + Photoshop Preset collaboration. Over the past year we’ve been shooting a bunch of film and while we love the look and feel of it, we still need the flexibility of digital in our workflow. That’s why we created this pack.
The pack starts with clean and timeless looks and moves to more analog toning as you progress through the later presets, all with a focus on beautiful skin tones. We used actual Portra 400 film as a our inspiration for the more analog presets.

This is my Lightroom & Photoshop preset pack. Presets are not one size fits all. You will find seven very different colors – a soft and beautiful color for harsh light with a red undertone, a more punchy golden brown, a deep blue for indoor work. I’ve added grain and tone tools for more creative playground.
For me finding your own style is the single most important and the single most difficult thing when starting photography. The way to get to the point where people will say that they recognize your piece in their instagram feed while scrolling through hundreds of images in no time is maybe on of the biggest compliments you can get. To achieve that, there’s a lot that comes with it: experience, taste, a contemporary color palette, hitting the zeitgeist and being able to tell a story. Transcending your images with the right mood and the right colors, and using the right presets at the right time is an art in itself. My looks will not take that away from you, but they will give you the groundwork in your post process, especially when you like my work, you will find something that you most likely can use for yourself. But the thing that needs to thrive the most in photography is you. Maybe these presets will even motivate you to go out, to shoot more, to just create more content for you and your audience, to make them images better and to use these pre-settings in a way I would never use them to create your very own look.

There are many approaches to translating an analog film with a preset into the digital world. VSCO, ReallyNiceImages, Mastin Labs, they all have their own idea of what a Kodak Portra 400 should look like. But we analog enthusiasts know it’s all a matter of interpretation. There is no ‘film looks like this’. If a negative film is scanned, it still has to be converted into a positive and here you quickly notice that there are many possible interpretations. Silverfast isn’t as neutral as Vuescan and a Lab scanner sometimes seems to be able to do magic. If you nod in agreement now, then you are probably either Team Frontier SP-3000 or Team Noritsu HS-1800. But maybe you don’t feel like a 3F-Scan from a Flextight X5? The Classic Lab does not only emulate the film, but also the scanner.
A profile emulates the scanner. Here the colors and tonal values are moved to the correct starting position to provide a perfect basis for the preset. This is where the magic of the Lab Scanner happens. First we start with the Fujifilm Frontier SP-3000.
The preset emulates the film and moves within the frame allowed by the scanner profile. All presets are optimized to offer the greatest possible analog charm with the best dynamic range.
This product will work with Adobe Lightroom CC (cloud based Version), CameraRAW (10.3 and above) and Classic CC (7.3 and above).
